Clemmons Comprehensive Plan
Clemmons, North Carolina (2009)

Clemmons is a community of 18,000 people located in North Carolina's "Piedmont Triad," which includes Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point. Straddling Interstate-40, much of the community's development has occurred within the past few decades. In fact, a key complaint of Village officials and citizens is that the community lacks a "sense of place" and strong identity because of the domination of generic suburban development. The Village hired Clarion Associates to lead the creation of a new comprehensive plan, and The Walker Collaborative (TWC) - working with Third Coast Design Studio - was a sub-consultant to Clarion. TWC's key role was to lead a public charrette to create a series of concept plans for a segment of the Lewisville-Clemmons Road, the Clemmons Road / Hampton Road gateway, and the proposed Village Center. The Village Center Concept Plan features anchoring civic uses - a new Village Hall, a county library and a post office. It also included shops, restaurants, offices, service businesses, and multi-family housing.
