LEWISBURG VISION PLAN
Lewisburg, Tennessee (2013)

Located in South Central Tennessee, Lewisburg is the county seat for Marshall County with a population of 12,000. While the City was not able to engage a full comprehensive planning process, they were in dire need of community visioning and planning for some key issues. The three areas of focus included commercial corridors, open space, and the historic downtown. The Walker Collaborative (TWC) was hired as part of a consultant team led by Hodgson & Douglas to lead the public input process, help draft much of the plan’s language, and participate in the plan presentations. Key recommendations included: transforming the land uses and development form along key commercial corridors; strengthening the fledgling downtown organization with staffing; and adopting a historic preservation program (ordinance, district, design guidelines, and design review process). Stakeholder focus group meetings and a charrette were critical public engagement tools for this project.
