Downtown Fayetteville Master Plan

The county seat for Lincoln County, Fayetteville is a community of 7,000 people located in South Central Tennessee. It is home to the famous “Lincoln County Process” of whiskey distilling, as utilized by Jack Daniels at nearby Lynchburg. The Walker Collaborative led a team to prepare a plan for the historic downtown.

The process included a market conditions assessment and strong public engagement, including a four-day charrette.

While the plan was comprehensive in treating the various issues, an emphasis was placed on:

• Mobility – a greenway plan, streetscape improvements, and parking strategies

• Concept plans for four targeted areas, three of which included new public spaces

• Leveraging the whiskey distilling heritage with a potential museum, downtown distilling operation,

and marketing with area distilleries

• Expanding the Main Street program’s resources, including funding
